The majority of adults will experience back pain at some point in their lives, and around 67% of adults experience pain with their neck. These are two of the most common reasons people go to see the doctor and can significantly impact a person’s quality of life. Back and neck related problems can result in missed workdays, disability, and high healthcare costs. The Spine and Scoliosis Center is a top spinal clinic with multiple locations in Central Florida. Procedures We Perform

The Spine and Scoliosis Center (SASC) performs the following procedures:

Lumbar Fusion

Two or more vertebrae in your lumbar region is permanently fused to eliminate motion

Cervical Fusion

This surgery permanently fuses together two or more of the vertebrae in your neck to eliminate motion.

Lumbar Microdiscectomy

A herniated disc may irritate or inflame the nerve root in the spinal area, causing significant amounts of pain. During this surgery, the surgeon removes a portion of the herniated disc in question to help the patient reduce their pain levels.

Scoliosis Surgery

Scoliosis surgery is used to treat severe scoliosis, typically through spinal fusion and correcting the spinal deformity. However, there are alternative treatment options available that you can talk to your doctor about. The main goals of scoliosis surgery are:

  • To stop the curve from getting worse
  • To reduce or correct the spinal deformity
  • To help maintain trunk balance

Lumbar Disc Replacement

Lumbar disk replacement involves replacing a degenerated or damaged disk in the lumbar region of your spine with an artificial disk. Lumbar disk replacement may be an alternative to spinal fusion surgery.

Cervical Disc Replacement

Cervical disc replacement refers to the replacement of a degenerated or damaged disk in the cervical region of the spine. Disc replacement surgery may allow for more movement and create less stress on the rest of your vertebrae than traditional cervical disk surgery.

Complex Revision Spine Surgery

Complex revision spine surgery is performed when a previous spinal surgery didn’t have the intended effect. Your doctor may recommend complex revision spine surgery for a wide range of reasons. Some reasons why you may need complex revision spine surgery include:

  • The original surgery didn’t’ fix the problem
  • An implant (like an artificial disc) fails
  • Another problem with your back or neck occurs after your original surgery

(DLIF) XLIF Lumbar Surgery

A Direct Lumbar Interbody Fusion (DLIF) or eXtreme Lateral Interbody Fusion (XLIF) refers to when your surgeon takes a lateral approach when performing a lumbar fusion procedure. This approach is typically optimal for treating spinal abnormalities from the mid to upper lumbar spine or the lower thoracic spine.

Spinal Stenosis Surgery

Spinal stenosis surgery helps reopen your spinal canal, which may become pinched when arthritis, bone spurs, or other problems cause the canal to narrow.
